Dr. Shaun Larsen attended Utah State and earned his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry. He has been in practice for 18 years. A Member of the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists, Lions Club, and provider for the non-profit “Utah Partners For Health”, Dr. Larsen’s specialties include Low Vision and Specialty Contacts.
Dr. Larsen finds Optometry extremely rewarding. He finds low vision so rewarding because the patients have no where else to turn, they’ve been told nothing else can be done. He helps them maintain a decent quality of life and stay active. Multi focal lenses and Ortho-K are options for active lifestyle patients and keep people young. Fitting Specialty Contacts is just fun!
Dr. Larsen’s favorite patient story includes a female patient who came in saying she had been to 4 other doctors and had been treated for bilateral eye infections by each of them. She had been attacked outside of a night club and had some head trauma. After examining her, Dr. Larsen referred her for a carotid sinus fistula. A couple months later the woman come up behind him and hugged him for saving her life. The surgeons had told her another day, and she could have died.
In his spare time, Dr. Larsen enjoys water skiing, camping and rock crawling in the jeep with his family – his 13 year old daughter who loves sports and 17 year old son who loves playing music. He also spends time working on his old cars. Dr. Larsen grew up and continues to live in South Jordan, Utah.
